Bone-A-Patreat celebrates Ankeny Grand Opening Dec. 5-6

Fresh off a 20th birthday in the Des Moines community this past month, pet food and supplies store Bone-A-Patreat is celebrating its new Ankeny store location with a Grand Opening Paw-ty from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5; and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6. Located in the new shopping center at 1630 S. Ankeny Blvd., this marks Bone-A-Patreat's fifth location in the greater Des Moines area.

Pet parents who come out for the special day will enjoy a two-day sale exclusive to the Ankeny location on various fan favorite food and treats options. The first 25 customers in the store on Dec. 5 and 6 will receive goodie bags, and all visitors to the store will be able to enjoy winter activities such as pet photos with Santa, a hot cocoa/pup cup bar, and a pet-friendly holiday ornament craft. Attendees also can enter to win large prizes such as a 12-month supply of pet food and a year of free pet washes in the store’s new wash suites.

The new Ankeny store will continue to provide the usual selection of premium pet food and supplies for dogs, cats, and small animals that locals have come to expect, along with a few additions like on-site self-serve pet wash suites. On-site pet grooming salons with fear-free measures will be added in the near future.

“We want to really be a convenient one-stop shop for pet parents,” Steve Rodrick, general manager of Bone-A-Patreat, said. “It’s a busy time of year, but when you come here, you can still get your pet's essentials, shop for any gifts, and also pamper them before those big holiday get-togethers."
The Ankeny store will also house its own pet treat bakery, which has been recently implemented across all Bone-A-Patreat locations. Each bakery bakes and hand-decorates seasonal treats, meat chips, and even pet cakes for dogs and cats.

“Our bakery treats are a great gift option you can’t get just anywhere, and ours are also made with human-grade ingredients by real bakers right here in your neighborhood,” Rodrick said.

Since 2004, Bone-A-Patreat has been serving the pet parents of the Des Moines area by providing a curated selection of pet food, supplies, toys, treats and chews. The Ankeny store marks the business’s fifth location, with other store locations in downtown Des Moines, West Des Moines, Urbandale and Altoona. All stores are open Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m.; Fridays from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. All locations are closed on Sundays.
